Week four of the season began with the Canadiens cruising along with a 3-0 lead in the third period against Tampa Bay. However, the Bolts scored three goals in the final six minutes of regulation time to tie it. There was no scoring in overtime and Carey Price was perfect in the shootout leading the Canadiens to a 4-3 win. Lars Eller had two assists in the game.
The Habs completed the sweep in Florida with a 1-0 overtime win against the Panthers. Rene Bourque scored the game winner with 2:10 gone in the extra frame after Alex Galchenyuk drove the puck to the net. Carey Price made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season while being named the game’s first star.
On Saturday night the Canadiens earned their third win in a row with a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. With goalie Carey Price suffering from the flu, it was the battle of the backups: Peter Budaj was between the pipes for the Habs and Brian Boucher in net for the Flyers. The Canadiens did a great job protecting Budaj allowing only two shots in the first period. Brendan Gallagher was named the game’s first star with a goal and an assist. Gallagher left the game early in the third period after being hit by Luke Schenn.
