The Habs began their final week of the regular season with a road trip to Chicago for an Original Six matchup with the Blackhawks.  Neither team was able to light the lamp in the first two periods, but in the final 20 minutes, Dale Weise and Francis Bouillon managed to get on the board for the visiting team.  Carey Price, Alexei Emelin, and Andrei Markov all stayed in Montreal to rest for the upcoming playoffs.  Final score: Blackhawks, 3-2. On the next night, the Canadiens headed back to home ice for a less-than-memorable game against the Islanders.  Price was the only player making quality plays, with 28 saves.  A struggling Habs offense couldn’t even muster a shot on goal in the third period until over seven minutes had passed.  It was a dismal shutout for the home team.  Final score: Islanders, 2-0. Saturday night brought the final game of the regular season, in the Bell Centre against the Rangers.  For the second consecutive game, the Habs couldn’t muster a goal in regulation.  The Rangers couldn’t seem to score either, thanks to Carey Price, and the game went to overtime.  Captain Brian Gionta was awarded a penalty shot in OT, and won the game with some impressive stick handling. Final score: Canadiens, 1-0 (OT). (Read our full recap here: Captain Clutch)

The Canadiens begin the first round of their playoff series against the Tamp Bay Lightning this week. Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team! In case you missed them, here are a few fantastic articles published earlier this week:

All Habs Three Weekly Stars

1st Star:  Carey Price

With a shutout against the Rangers, Carey Price was named the first star of the game. He also picked up a third star selection against the Islanders.

2nd Star:  Brian Gionta

Captain Brian Gionta scored a game-winning goal on a penalty shot in overtime to end the regular season on a positive note.

3rd Star:  vacant

While a handful of players had memorable moments this week, none approached the level of the two players above so we chose to leave this position vacant.
