  1. I’m bored, so let me be the first to play devil’s advocate. Yes, I’m insulted as much as the next guy, but let’s try and view this “scandal” on a different angle.

Are we outraged at goal celebrations? Of course not. It’s a player thing, doesn’t really concern us. Ference’s finger, on the other hand, was aimed right at us – and that’s not “us” who were in the front row of the Bell Centre that day, it’s us, the fans as a whole.

Now, with that in mind, how could anyone approve of such a gesture? It’s pretty easy. For me, that’s when it gets personal. Ference obviously doesn’t like Habs fans, and for a moment, he wasn’t scared to show it.

There’s not much in the Canadiens organization that makes the team truly belong in Montreal – let’s be honest. There’s no ridiculous French Canadian ratio – or even Montrealers, Quebecers or Canadians – in the lineup. So when a player does something like what Ference did, it implicates us directly. It makes us feel part of the game. He’s talking to *US*! That’s what makes it okay for me, he’s participating and I feel like he’s making me participate. I wish more players would do that, and I wish we’d answer something else than “hey, now that wasn’t cool, here’s a ridiculously low fine for your bad behaviour, now don’t you do that again!”

  2. Being from Boston….I am embarrassed by this gesture. Love my Bruins, but it was classless.

Sorry to all of you great fans in Montreal.

  3. The 5th play-off game in Boston and Montreal was very strong in skating and a fast game with 1 goal only from both sides then overtime win by Bruins. Boston players play very fast hockey game and try to score first goal. For Montreal to win the 6th and 7th game
players must do defensive and fast play with Bruins.
Check Cara, Marchand and Bergeron very well in blue line zone of Habs all the time and keep them away from Habs goal.Subban and Gill for defencive play and Gionta, Gomez, Darche and Cammalleri in front line for scoring first. Good luck to Habs for 6th and 7th game. Play strong game with Bruins.

  4. Here’s my views on Ference’s fingering.

NHL hockey players are considered professional and are expected conduct themselves in a professional manner, both on and off the ice.

What he did lacked class, and his explanation of it, in my opinion made him look worse, but in the end, I’m not upset he didn’t get suspended, just will never be of fan of his.

PL, i do agree on a point, i do like it when players engage the fans, but I feel there’s different ways of doing it. I think of Dustin Byfuglien in last year’s playoffs against the Canucks, he would taunt them but in a very polite way and I thought that was a lot of fun.
