On Hockey Day in Canada! That used to mean something special. Without fans, the atmosphere in the building was flat. And for the first ten minutes of the game, there was a decided lack of energy on the ice. The Oilers started goaltender Stuart Skinner who, despite the lack of activity around him, looked rather beatable. He was having great difficulty with the puck, handling it like a grenade. But at the other end of Sam Montembeault was not sharp. The Canadiens were down 3-0 after the first period. And with 40 minutes played Montembeault got the hook after giving up six goals on 16 shots. The Canadiens have suffered with AHL-caliber goaltending for much of the season and that was the case again tonight. Up NextThe Canadiens may welcome a number of players back on Sunday. Prior to the game, Carey Price will speak to the media for the first time this season. They will host the Columbus Blue Jackets for a rare Sunday night contest at the Bell Centre.Plus▲ Nick Suzuki, Artturi Lehkonen, Tyler Toffoli, Josh AndersonMinus▼ Sam Montembeault, Michael Pezzetta, Ben Chairot, Laurent Dauphin, Jeff Petry, Cedric Paquette, Kale Clague, Rem Pitlick, Alexander Romanov, Chris WidemanGame PreviewCheck out the game preview here: Habs vs Kane | PREVIEW: EDM @ MTL |
