Bulldogs’ 4 game win streak snapped after 3-1 loss

The Houston Aeros ended the Hamilton Bulldogs four-game winning streak with a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday night. In front of 4,510 fans at Copps Coliseum, Barry Brust made 25 saves on 26 shots to lead the Aeros to victory.

The ‘Dogs opened the scoring while on the power play at 3:21 of the first frame. Yanick Lehoux skated down the right side before rifling a shot over the glove of Houston starting goaltender Barry Brust to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Dan Jancevski and Ben Maxwell also earned assists on the play.

The Aeros tied the game 1-1 at 15:31 of the opening stanza. Maxim Noreau collected the puck at the side boards before blasting a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis on the shortside. Justin Falk and Craig Valette recorded assists on the goal.

Houston took the lead at 9:13 of the final frame. Ryan Hamilton split between two Bulldogs defenders to earn a breakaway on Denis. Hamilton backhanded a shot over the blocker of Denis to give Houston a 2-0 lead. Corey Locke earned an assist on play, his first point ever against the Hamilton Bulldogs. The ‘Dogs all-time leading scorer played in his first game at Copps Coliseum since being traded by Montreal in the off-season.

John Lammers sealed the win for Houston with an empty-net marker at 19:09 of the third period.
