Bulldogs earn hard fought 4-3 comeback win

The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Syracuse Crunch 4-3 in front of 4,041 fans at Copps Coliseum on Friday evening. The ‘Dogs scored four unanswered goals in the second period while Loic Lacasse earned his first-career AHL win in his first-career AHL game.

The Crunch opened the scoring 45 seconds into the first frame. Mike York sent a pass to the slot where Aaron Rome fired a shot through the five-hole of Hamilton starting goaltender Loic Lacasse. Syracuse added its second goal at 1:54. Steve Kelly received the puck from Adam Pineault before rifling a shot past Lacasse. John Vigilante gave the Crunch a 3-0 lead with a power-play marker at 18:57. Rome blasted a shot from the point that was saved by Lacasse. Vigilante picked up the loose rebound and buried the puck past Lacasse for his fifth goal of the season.

Hamilton scored four goals, including three power-play markers in the second period to take a 4-3 lead. The ‘Dogs got on the scoreboard at 11:46. Yanick Lehoux skated behind the net before sending a pass to Thomas Beauregard, who took a shot that slid through the legs of Syracuse starting goaltender Dan LaCosta. While on the power play, Mike Glumac scored at 12:28. David Desharnais fed a pass to the point where Maxwell was stationed. Maxwell hammered a shot that sailed through traffic before being tipped by Mike Glumac and into the back of the net. Hamilton tied the game 3-3 at 13:26. Ryan White skated into Syracuse’s zone on a 3-on-1, where he sent a pass to Shawn Belle. Belle faked a shot before returning the puck to White, who banged it past a sprawling LaCosta. Thomas Beauregard scored his second goal of the game at 18:55. Brock Trotter sent a pass to Beauregard who broke in alone on the goal. Beauregard made a few deke moves before shooting the puck through the five-hole of Lacasse.
