Bulldogs hit a Moose in 4-3 loss

The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Manitoba Moose 4-3 on Wednesday night in front of 3,043 fans at Copps Coliseum. The Moose recorded three power-play goals while Jason Krog had two goals and an assist.

Shaun Heshka opened the game’s scoring at 9:07. Michael Grabner sent to puck to Mark Cullen who was at the right side of the net. Cullen fed a pass to Heshka, who was on the other side of the net. Heshka waited patiently before sending the puck over a sprawling Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis. Manitoba added its second goal on the power play at 15:07. Krog sent a cross-crease pass to Jason Jaffray. Jaffray rifled a shot over the glove of Denis for the goal.

The ‘Dogs added two goals at the end of the first frame to tie the game 2-2-. At 18:12, Brock Trotter received a pass from Ben Maxwell while positioned at the top of the right circle. Trotter skated towards Manitoba starting goaltender Cory Schneider before using a deke and sliding the puck past the netminder. With one second remaining in the frame, Mathieu Aubin scored his fifth goal.

Ryan O’Byrne received the puck after a faceoff win before sending a pass to Dan Jancevski, who blasted a shot towards the net. Aubin tipped the puck out of mid-air and past Schneider to tie the game.

The Moose regained their lead while on the power play at 13:33 of the second stanza. Jason Krog received the puck at the left side of the net before snapping a shot past the blocker of Denis. Mark Fistric and Maxime Fortunus earned assists on the goal.

Shawn Belle tied the game 3-3 at 16:06 while on the power play in the third period. Ben Maxwell fired a shot that was saved by Schneider.

Belle grabbed the loose rebound before firing a shot past Schneider.Krog added his second goal of the night to win the game for Manitoba at 18:18 of the final frame. While stationed at the top right circle, Krog received the puck from Mike Keane before wristing a shot past Denis.

  1. Maxwell is really productive for a first year AHL pro. I think he is ahead of the pace that Higgins, Plekanec, D’Agostini, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, managed at the same age in that league.
