Bulldogs Sign NCAA’ers Novak, Flanigan, Todd to Amateur Try-out Contracts

HAMILTON, ON – Hamilton Bulldogs and Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of Travis Novak, Ryan Flanigan, and Jesse Todd to Amateur Try-Out contracts. Forwards Joey Haddad and Eric Lampe were also released from their Professional Try-Out contracts today.

Novak, 23, has played in 36 games for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s St. Cloud State this season, recording 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists), and 28 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward played a total of four seasons for St. Cloud State and previously suited up with the United States Hockey League’s Omaha Lancers and the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Canmore Eagles, where he was ranked second in points 32 (16 goals, 16 assists) and tied for first in goals in the 2005-2006 season. The native of Lethbridge, Alberta has previously played with Hamilton Bulldogs forward Andrew Conboy on the Omaha Lancers teams of 2006-2008.

Flanigan, 23, has spent the past four seasons playing Division-1 H-EAST NCAA hockey with Merrimack College. In 2011-2012, the 6-foot, 175-pound forward suited up for 36 games, leading the team with 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) and recording 29 penalty minutes. The Rochester, New York native was ranked second on the team in goals behind fellow new Bulldog Jesse Todd this past season as well as in 2010-2011, when he registered 24 points (16 goals, 18 assists).

Todd, 25, also played NCAA hockey for the Division-1 H-EAST Merrimack College team from 2008-2012. In the past season, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward led Merrimack College in goals, ranking second in points behind fellow new Bulldog Ryan Flanigan with 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists), also registering 37 penalty minutes. The Calgary, Alberta native previously suited up with the AJHL’s Camrose Kodiaks from 2005-2008, ranking second in points on the 2007-2008 roster with 70 points (35 goals, 35 assists).

The Bulldogs next face the Rockford IceHogs on Tuesday, March 20th, 2012 at 8 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
