THAMES, NZ. — Hockey fans in the southern hemisphere are being treated to professional hockey this winter (your summer) as two teams representing Canada and the United States clash. Earlier this week, we discussed games being held this weekend in New Zealand in a post titled Canada vs USA in New Zealand featuring Habs Byron Froese.
NHL, AHL, and European-based players will also be heading to Australia as part of the the 2018 Ice Hockey Classic. Hockey will be coming to Sydney on June 30th, Adelaide on July 5th and Brisbane on July 7th as they host the Australian part of the series.
The exciting news is that it has just been announced that former Hab Rene Bourque will feature in these games joining another ex-Hab Ben Scrivens. Also on show in Sydney will be recent Stanley Cup winner Nathan Walker of the Washington Capitals. Both sides of the ditch are in for a Hockey treat.
