MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the acquisition of forward George Parros from the Florida Panthers, in return for Philippe Lefebvre and Florida’s seventh round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired during the NHL draft on June 30, 2013).

Parros, 33, notched two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 39 games with the Florida Panthers in 2012-13. The right winger recorded 53 hits and served 57 penalty minutes, while averaging 6:36 of ice time per game.

Orr vs. Parros
Since his debut in 2005-06, Parros has totaled 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 452 NHL regular season games. The 6-foot-5, 228-pound forward has served 1,007 penalty minutes. Parros has added 35 penalty minutes in 19 career NHL playoff contests.

A native of Washington, Pennsylvania, Parros was the Los Angeles Kings’ ninth pick (eighth round, 222nd overall) at the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to joining the Canadiens, Parros played with the Kings, Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks and Panthers during his NHL career.

Signed as a free agent by the Canadiens on September 15, 2009, Lefebvre played 23 games this season with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs registering seven points (four goals, three assists). He added 16 points (8 goals, 8 helpers) in 28 games with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.
