Game Preview

A Look Back

The bounces literally went the Habs way starting with the first goal and they didn’t look back. The Phil Danault line found their game once again as they led the way for the team. Carey Price shut the door. But it was a complete effort by the Habs that allowed them to take it to the Jets.

Players to Watch

  • Tyler Toffoli
The hot hand especially when playing in Vancouver has been Toffoli. Will he continue his hot streak against his former team?
  • Carey Price
Price has been lights out, winning his past two starts. Will the coaching staff allow him to get on a bit of a roll by better managing his starts?
  • Phillip Danault
With two assists, Danault had one of his better games of the season against the Jets. Danault has dug a rather large hole with his dreadful season so far. Will he be able to work his way out of it?

Keys to Victory

  • Start quickly
The Habs have taken it to the Canucks so far this season. A fast start to keep the momentum their way is just what they need.
  • Repeat the effort
The Habs found their goal scoring touch last game but need to keep that going and have the same performance tonight.
  • Win special teams
The power-play of the Canucks knew how to take advantage of the Habs so far this season. Hopefully the Habs have made their adjustments to prevent any easy goals.

Pre-game Quotes
Dominique Ducharme

  • “If we look at our last four games, we’re heading in the right direction. We just want to build off that. We picked up five out of a possible six points at home. That’s six points out of eight in our last four games. We’re continuing to improve on what we’ve put in place. We talk about details. We have to continue working on our game.”

 Game Expectations
The Habs start a six-game road trip out West. It is vital that the Habs get as many points as they can out of a possible twelve. The Habs added two veterans from the AHL to the taxi squad for the long trip.

Bottom Line

Starting off hot to the road trip should give them some much needed confidence during a trip that could cause some issues if they falter.
