However, there was not much optimism among Habs fans after this game. This loss hurt. The Canadiens played as well as they have this month. Supercharged with emotion, Montreal had speed, they had good sticks and they were physical. They dominated possession with 78 shot attempts and played solid in the defensive zone. Jake Allen was the beneficiary of the Habs best effort in the past ten games. Allen faced just two shots in the third period and was called upon to make just 17 saves in the first 60 minutes. Nick Suzuki had a strong game scoring from an almost impossible angle while playing just over 21 minutes. But it was Phillip Danault that coach Dominique Ducharme tapped to start the overtime. Danault lost the faceoff and the Jets, deploying three forwards, picked up the game winner just 36 seconds into the extra frame. The Canadiens had every reason to win this game, and they almost did. But skill and timely finish by the Jets, along with excellent goaltending from Connor Hellebuyck prevailed. Montreal has lost five straight with only two wins in the last ten games. Jake Allen has lost his last three starts. And Ducharme is 0-2 to begin his tenure as interim head coach. The fix is not going to be easy nor quick. Up NextThe Canadiens should be happy to close the book on a dreadful month of February. They open a three game homestand this week against Ottawa and Winnipeg.Plus▲ Joel Armia, Nick Suzuki, Tyler Toffoli, Artturi Lehkonen, Brett KulakMinus▼ Phillip Danault, Corey Perry, Jake Evans, Paul ByronGame PreviewCheck out the game preview here: Canadiens @ Jets: Desperate For a W |

tough one again to lose
take the point.the draw is okay.get out of town.
in the old days,we leave after 3 periods with our heads high.
trailing, coming back to tie.finishing strong with the draw.
goalies feel good as do the others.now poor allen feels like he let down the team eh?
good point rick, about the choice of our 3 to start the overtime.
the 3 on 3, is a track meet.put out the game-changers,the greyhounds.the only strategy is:who-ever scores 1st!!!
read ducharme’s comments a bit. “want to create a new attitude”?
