The Montreal Canadiens offer support to those living with cancer

Montreal – As part of the NHL Hockey Fights Cancer Program, the Montreal Canadiens have undertaken several initiatives in the to emphasize the courage of those living with cancer and raise awareness and funds for a cause that affects almost one out of two citizens in Quebec. Since the inception of this program, the Montreal Canadiens have teamed up with all NHL member clubs and the NHLPA as active participants in this annual event to promote public awareness and raise funds for organizations involved in cancer care and research in North America.
Canadiens Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night with Leucan – Saturday October 26, 2013
A committed partner of the Canadiens in this initiative since its inception, official broadcaster RDS will provide a night to remember to some of the young guests who will enjoy the opportunity to visit the broadcasting and production studios or call the play-by-play alongside Pierre Houde. Several RDS personalities will also be attending the pre-game reception to meet the children of Leucan and hand out souvenir gifts.
Movember – Men’s cancer and mental health – November 1st to 30, 2013
Starting on November 1st, Montreal Canadiens players will participate in the Movember campaign to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer as well as mental health. After losing its friendly bet with the Vancouver Canucks in November 2012, the Canadiens are hoping to have the upper hand on their western rival.
