Carey Price Awarded Molson Cup for December

MONTREAL – Netminder Carey Price is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of December. Price, who was the overall Molson Cup award winner in 2008-09, is the recipient of the award for the third consecutive month of the 2010-11 season.

Price received 3,053 fan votes in the Molson Cup standings in December. He was selected once as the first star of the game (Dec. 4 against San Jose), twice as the second star (Dec. 10 at Detroit and Dec. 28 at Washington), and once as the third star (Dec. 2 at New Jersey). Price finished ahead of teammates Michael Cammalleri (2,143 votes) and Brian Gionta (1,558 votes).

The 23-year old goaltender had a 5-7-1 record in 13 games in December, with a 2.96 goals against average. He stopped 318 of the 356 shots he faced for a .893 save percentage. Price led the league’s goaltenders in December with a total of 771 minutes played.

Carey Price will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony prior to Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Thrashers at the Bell Centre.
