Sports Science and Performance

The Montreal Canadiens have appointed Adam Douglas as Director, Sports Science and Performance. Douglas is the former Manager of all Sports Performance for the Men’s National Canadian Hockey team with Hockey Canada. Douglas was part of gold-medal winning teams including IIHF World Juniors in 2015, 2018, and 2020, as well as the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

Douglas has replaced Pierre Allard who has accepted a position as assistant coach to head coach Don Jackson with the Munich Red Bull hockey team in the German elite league.

“I was immediately impressed by the Red Bull organization,” said 48-year-old Allard, who began his new position in early August. “When the chance came up I had to take it. I’m excited to bring my experience and to be able to learn from experts such as Don. This move is slightly surprising for a number of reasons but the decision had been coming for a number of years. I see Munich as a challenge and a new start for me,” said Allard.

Cheers Cole!

District 1 Brewing Company is a micro brewery and taproom located in Steven’s Point, Wisconsin, which just happens to be the birthplace of Canadiens forward Cole Caufield.

District 1 has brewed Goal! Caufield, described as an “American light lager highlighting local hockey phenom Cole Caufield.” A portion of the sales are donated to Camp Hope, who’s mission “is to bring hope and healing to Combat Veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related Post Traumatic Stress.”

Currently, just one batch of the Goal! Caufield lager has been brewed for sale from the District 1 taproom. The micro brewery must wait until Caufield’s 21st birthday on January 2, 2022 before they can brew and release any more of this special beer.

Gally Brings Jays Luck

Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher along with New Jersey Devils rookie Ty Smith were guests of the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Saturday. Gallagher witnessed a 9-8 comeback win for the Blue Jays over the Red Sox.
