Chipchura named Bulldogs captain

Hamilton Bulldogs Head Coach Don Lever announced today that forward Kyle Chipchura has been named the tenth Captain in franchise history.

Chipchura, 22, has played in nine games for the Bulldogs this season registering four points (one goal, three assists). He also competed in one game with the Montreal Canadiens this season. In 2007-2008, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound centre split the season between Montreal and Hamilton. Chipchura played in 36 games for the Canadiens recording 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and registered 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) in 39 games with the ‘Dogs.

Montreal’s 1st round, 18th overall, selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft also won the Calder Cup with Hamilton in 2007, ranking third on the team in scoring with 13 points (six goals, seven assists) after playing in all 22 post-season games. Chipchura is also a former recipient of the Flamboro Downs Workhorse of the Year award (formerly the Pearson-Dunn Player of the Year award), winning the trophy for the 2006-2007 season.

The native of Westlock, Alberta, has played in a total of 136 regular season games for the Bulldogs registering 67 points (24 goals, 43 assists).
