MONTREAL, QC. — ‘Twas the week before Christmas when all through Montreal,
not a player was scoring not even Bournival.
24 banners were hung in the rafters with care,
in hopes that number 25 soon would be there.
So now that I have gotten everyone in the Christmas spirit, I figure what better time than the present to hand out some Christmas gifts to our Habs. With the tough stretch they have been having, they might be in need of some good cheer!
Marc Bergevin:
I wish Bergevin finds a willing trade partner that will help him get his team some scoring help and some size up front. Two things that this team is clearly lacking.
Michel Therrien:
For Therrien, I hope he gets a little more respect than he has been getting these last few weeks. When the Habs were on a roll in late November, he got no credit. Now that they are in a slump, calls for his firing have begun.
Douglas Murray:
A few speed skating lessons from Catriona Lemay-Doan. Besides his evident lack of foot speed, Murray has been a solid addition to the Habs blue line.
Brandon Prust:
Metal shoulder pads. Help keep his banged up shoulders safe when he goes flying into the end boards on every shift.
Brendan Gallagher:
Five inches and 40 pounds. With his heart and that extra size he would be unstoppable!
Tomas Plekanec:
The Selke trophy at the end of the year. It’s about time, Pleks gets the recognition he deserves for his ability in shutting down the best forwards on the opposition.
George Parros:
A bigger moustache. Maybe one that could protect his chin too. It seems to be getting more and more fragile.
See Marc Bergevin’s gift…
Brian Gionta:
See Rene Bourque’s gift…
Josh Gorges:
Goalie pads. If he is going to drop down to block as many shots as he does, might as well protect his legs and ankles a little better.
Alex Galchenyuk:
A little more ice. Not the kind you add to a good Scotch, but the kind that gives you power play time.
Peter Budaj:
A chance to sit as the backup to Jaroslav Halak in Sochi. Would be a nice reward for Budaj who has been solid over the last two seasons.
Carey Price:
The starting goalie spot for team Canada at the Olympics.
Travis Moen:
Brandon Prust’s heart and intensity. Although Moen is having a better season than last year, he could still help number 8 a little more.
I just gave him the best gift possible. I reminded people he is still on this team.
Daniel Brière:
Is it bad if I don’t give him anything? I know this goes against the Christmas spirit but shouldn’t someone who receives a gift give a little something in return? Just a little something? Please Danny give us a little something… if you do maybe we will give you a Valentine’s gift.
Michaël Bournival:
A bigger chance at playing a prominent role in the top 9 forwards.
David Desharnais:
Propecia. Grow back that stache Davey, grow back the stache…
Ryan White:
A bigger doghouse. He seems to spend a lot of time in it, not always deserved. But since that seems to be the pattern, might as well make him comfortable in it.
Francis Bouillon:
Barring injuries on the back end, a maximum of 10 starts from now until the end of the season. Frankie has been a warrior for the Canadiens, but father time has caught up with him.
See Brian Gionta’s gift…
Max Pacioretty:
A golf round with Chi Chi Rodriguez. Help him perfect the sword celebration.
Alexei Emelin:
The proper spelling and pronunciation of his name.
P.K. Subban:
Recognition. That’s all he needs. Just to have people recognize and respect what a truly gifted player he is.
Andrei Markov:
A new three year deal.
Lars Eller:
Give him back the white and the yolk. Without them, Lars is just a shell of the EGG line.
They sprang from their seats, with the refs final whistle.
Down the Bell Center stairs they all flew, like the down of a thistle.
But I heard Geoff Molson exclaim as he turned down the lights,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
