PENTICTON, BC. – Less than 24 hours after acquiring pending UFA Carl Soderberg’s rights from the Boston Bruins in exchange for a sixth round pick, the Colorado Avalanche didn’t waste any time to signing the centerman to a new five year deal, carrying a cap hit of $4.75 million per season. Considering that Soderberg’s career best is 16 goals and 48 points, this seems like a steep price to pay for the 29 year old.
This, of course, opens even more speculations that the Avalanche will try to trade forward Ryan O’Reilly within the next few hours or days to come.
