COO Kevin Gilmore Is Leaving the Montreal Canadiens

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens president and CEO, Geoff Molson, announced Wednesday that executive vice president and COO Kevin Gilmore is leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities. This comes as part of an understanding between Geoff Molson and Kevin Gilmore when he first joined the company.

“I regret to announce that Kevin Gilmore is leaving his position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Club de hockey Canadien. It is never easy to see a person of that quality leave the company, but Kevin will remain involved with the organization as a consultant on certain projects for the next few months,” said Geoff Molson.

Under the leadership of Kevin Gilmore over the past five years, Groupe CH has enjoyed a strong growth at all levels. Among his most noticeable accomplishments, he played a key role in the negotiations that led to a 12-year French broadcast agreement with RDS and an English broadcast deal with Sportsnet. He was also behind the concept and launch of the popular documentary series 24 CH as well as the creation of Club 1909 reaching out to 250,000 fans from around the world and allowing them to connect more closely with the team while bringing the brand to an international level. He was also involved in the business transaction that led to the real estate development of the Tour des Canadiens I and II in downtown Montreal.

“When I first joined the organization it was clear to both Geoff and I that I could come in and immediately contribute knowledge and experience in order to grow the business. I am very proud of my five years with the Montreal Canadiens organization. In this short period of time, I feel I have contributed to preparing one of the most successful professional sports franchise for a bright future. I would like to thank Geoff Molson for giving me the opportunity to work for this great organization,” Gilmore said. Although it is difficult to come to a decision like this one and step away from my childhood team, I feel the timing is right for me to move on to another professional challenge, while remaining close to the organization for the foreseeable future,” concluded Gilmore.
