Coyotes, Canadiens talking trade?

The Derek Morris & Olli Jokinen trade rumour was reported in yesterday’s game review (Different Goalie, Similar Result) but in case you missed it, here’s a story from The Fourth Period:

TheFourthPeriod.com

Having lost six straight and in jeopardy of falling out of the playoff race in the next two weeks, the Phoenix Coyotes may find themselves to be sellers by the March 4 trade deadline.

Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Sources tell TFP the Montreal Canadiens, actively shopping for a top-four blueliner, have been scouting the Coyotes lately, presumably to watch Morris.

Morris, 30, has a cap hit just under $4 million this season. He has a no-trade clause and would have to approve any move the Coyotes agree upon.

Meanwhile, TSN also reported the Habs have sent out scouts to Phoenix’s last few games, noting that Morris and center Olli Jokinen are believed to be available for trade.
