MONTREAL – Members of the media covering the Montreal Canadiens voted forward Dale Weise as the 2014-15 recipient of the Jacques Beauchamp-Molson Trophy. The trophy is awarded annually to the member of the Canadiens who played a dominant role during the regular season, without earning any particular honor. Weise succeeds forward Brian Gionta who was the recipient in 2013-14.

Weise received the most total votes in the race for the Jacques Beauchamp-Molson Trophy, earning 128 points in the overall standings ahead of forwards Brandon Prust (63 points) and Brendan Gallagher (47 points).

In his second season with the Canadiens, Weise set career highs in goals (10), assists (19), points (29) and games played (77) since the beginning of the 2014-15 season. The 6’2’’, 205-lbs forward was assessed 32 penalty minutes and scored one game-winning goal. He ranks second on the team (first among forwards) with 143 hits. The Winnipeg-native is third on the team (tied with Brendan Gallagher) with a +21 plus/minus differential.

Created in 1981 to honor the memory of the legendary sportswriter who spent most of his professional career covering the Canadiens, the Jacques Beauchamp-Molson Trophy was first awarded to Doug Jarvis following the 1981-82 season.
