Would you trade Marian Hossa to Montreal for Chris Higgins, Ryan O’Byrne and 2008 first rounder?
Answer: Only if I could sign Hossa to a reasonable contract extension…..say, 4 years/$30 million. I really think he will test the free agent market where he could easily command a salary similar to Briere, Gomez or Drury.
I would hate to lose a strong two way, leadership/character guy like Christopher Higgins but you have to give up value in order to receive value. Losing O’Byrne wouldn’t be the end of the world as the Habs have a ton of solid prospects on the blueline: Subban, McDonagh, Valentenko, Emelin, Carle, Weber, Paquet and Fischer
Would you trade Michael Ryder for Jarrett Stoll?
Answer: In a heart beat…..though I doubt Kevin Lowe is that stupid as Stoll is a RFA while Ryder is a UFA and will most likely test the market next year……I’m not sure he’ll get more than he’s making presently ($2.9 million).
