Devan Dubnyk Acquired by Habs from Nashville, Assigned to Hamilton

Canadiens acquire goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Wednesday the acquisition of goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators, in exchange for future considerations. He was assigned to the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs.

Dubnyk, 27, shows a record of 11 wins, 18 losses and 3 overtime losses in 34 games since the start of the 2013-14 season with the Predators and Edmonton Oilers. The 6’06’’, 210 lbs. goalkeeper displays a 3.43 goals against average. He has stopped 842 of the 945 shots he has faced for a .891 save percentage. Dubnyk has two shutouts to his credit.

In 173 NHL career games with Edmonton and Nashville Dubnyk has a record of 61 wins, 77 losses and 22 overtime losses. Eight of his wins were shutouts. He has a 2.90 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

Dubnyk, who hails from Regina, was the Oilers’ first round selection, 14th overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. A product of the WHL’s Blazers Kamloops he maintained a 83-87-14 record in 192 regular-season contests at the junior level from 2001 to 2006. He recorded 15 shutouts, a 2.69 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
