Erik Cole signs 4 years with Montreal

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced Friday the signing of forward Erik Cole to a four-year contract (2011-12 to 2014-15). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Cole, 32, played in all 82 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2010-11. He recorded 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists), totaled 49 penalty minutes and served 225 hits. He also ranked fourth in the NHL with 9 game winning goals.
Cole completed in 2010-11 his ninth season in the NHL. Since he first joined the NHL in 2001-2002, the 6’2’’ and 205 lbs forward registered 390 points (184 goals, 206 assists) in 620 career regular season games. He totaled 557 penalty minutes, scored 43 powerplay goals and 35 game winning goals. A member of the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions Carolina Hurricanes, Cole played in a total of 43 career playoff games. He had a career-high 61 points (29 goals, 32 assists) in 71 games with the Hurricanes in 2006-07.
Born in Oswego, New York, Cole was a third-round selection, 71st overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
