6. Alex Tanguay, Mon LW
2009 Outlook: Tanguay played a secondary role in Calgary, rarely lining up with Jarome Iginla at even strength or on the power play. It showed in his totals, as he dropped from his perennial 80-point range to a mere 58 points. The Canadiens have bought him in to prop up their weaker port side, and he’ll likely play opposite the resurgent Alexei Kovalev. More of a passer than a shooter, Tanguay should fit in well with a sniper like Kovalev and will benefit from playing on Montreal’s potent power play.
