MONTREAL, QC. — Habs fans will have divided loyalties this weekend as Major League Baseball has returned for two days. The Big O was alive again on Friday night as the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the New York Mets. The Montreal Expos played their last game in Olympic Stadium in 2004 before the franchise moved to become the Nationals in Washington, D.C.

Former Expos catcher and Hall of Fame member Gary Carter was honored in a pregame ceremony with a video tribute. Carter’s wife Sandy, daughter Kimmy and teammates Tim Raines, Steve Rogers and Warren Cromartie were in attendance.
Mayor Denis Coderre threw out the ceremonial first pitch. 41, 121 fans turned out for the first of two games.

Former Expos Warren Cromartie leads a organization called Montreal Baseball Project that is trying to bring back baseball to Montreal.
The Blue Jays won the game 5-4 on a walk-off single by Ricardo Nanita.
