MONTREAL, QC. — ‘Five Hole for Food’ is making their annual trek across Canada and will be stopping at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal on Monday, July 6th. They are a non-profit organization that uses hockey to raise awareness and food for the less fortunate. Over the past three years, they have gathered more than 500,000 pounds of food and donated it to food banks across Canada!

Their mission is to inspire Canadians to take a stand against hunger using hockey as “a vehicle for social change.” Hockey is not only fun to play, but in this case can be used to help raise food, funds, and awareness for hunger. Five Hole for Food organizes a series of ball hockey games and tours across Canada in support of local food banks. They could be visiting a town near you.

Whether you get a group of people together for a team or are an individual wishing to play-in which case they will find you a team- you can register here.

The organization began in 2010 following the Winter Olympics in British Columbia. It was a way to harness the nationalism that they games had brought out and use it to make a positive differences in communities.  All Habs Hockey Magazine was one of the original sponsors of the Montreal event.

Street hockey builds character in individuals, and teaches them the spirit of fair play and living a healthy lifestyle. Five Hole for Food takes that to another level.  We at All Habs confirm that they are a great charity and have supported them since their very first tour! According to Food Banks Canada, each month close to 850,000 Canadians are assisted by food banks. You can help ensure that there is enough food made available to them and have a great time doing so.
