Game Recap:The Canadiens drew energy from an early goal by Lars Eller which turned out to be the game-winner. They used their speed, aggressively pursued the puck and outhit the Bruins 39-34. Carey Price was superb in registering a shutout, the fourth post-season shutout of his career, all against the Bruins. Max Pacioretty had his first goal of the series and added an assist. Thomas Vanek picked up two goals. - “Anything can happen in Game 7, that’s the beauty of it.”
- “Well [Thomas Vanek and Max Pacioretty] certainly played very well. It was fun to see our players playing that way with that type of energy.”

- “We played as a unit. They competed on every shift, and I thought that was our best effort of the series.”

- “I just got the bounce that I’ve been needing for a couple of games. (Nathan) Beaulieu made a great stretch pass after a blocked shot. I think it hit two of their defensemen, lands right on my stick, the puck was still wobbling, just swiped at it five-hole. You know, it’s a funny game. I’m talking to you guys right now like I just played the best game of my life, but I don’t think I played much different from a couple of games in the past.”
Forward Thomas Vanek
- “Obviously, it’s big for us to score and get those goals, but I thought tonight what the difference was I think we played well as a team. Every line played well, our (defense) was great, and Carey (Price) was Carey back there.”
- “We wanted to win the game, obvious. We wanted to have a good start and score the first goal. That didn’t happen. They won. Nothing we can do about it now. Just get ready for Game 7. We can talk about their game, our game. Let’s put everything in the past and focus on Game 7.“
Bruins goalie Tuuka Rask
- “I kind of hesitated. I didn’t want to get burned again the same way I did on the first one, and I got burned a different way. I think me and Z (Zdeno Chara) got caught looking at each other there. I thought he was going to dive; I think he thought I was going to play it. But yeah, just another gift.”
Bruins head coach Claude Julien
- “We’re perceived as the bad guys and they’re the good guys, but when (Andrei) Markov trips (Zdeno) Chara and then he puts his stick between his legs, and nothings going to be called, eventually somebody’s going to react. Whether it’s right or wrong, Zdeno reacted and then everything else started. And there was a slew foot before, (David) Desharnais on (Brad) Marchand. It’s a slew foot. Those are the things we’ve been talking about that are dangerous in our game. It’s a rivalry and there’s some things going on on both sides. I’m not portraying ourselves as innocent here. I’m just saying it takes two teams to tango and that’s what happened.”
- “I’m not taking away any credit from that team, they played well tonight. But when you look at the first goal, mishandling the puck, the second goal is probably the goal that hurt us the most because I thought we were spending a lot of time in their end and we got some great chances to tie the game. But that kind of turned the tide around. And their goal was a power-play goal.”
- On his expectations for Game 7, “I expect us to win.”
- “They got the goals tonight. We could have been better in regards to that. From our end, we had more lines going tonight than we’ve had this whole series.”
- “It doesn’t matter what it is, you just have to find a way to finish. At the end of the day you gotta find a way.”
