Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game: MTL 4  NYI  5  (OT)

The Islanders centers were too much for the Canadiens to handle as Mathew Barzal and John Tavares both had multi-point games. The Habs were able to battle back but fell in overtime on Tavares’ second of the night

For a complete recap: Habs Taught Lesson by Isles Skilled Centres

Players to watch

  • Jacob De La Rose
De La Rose was very effective earlier in the year when filling in for Drouin. He now gets an opportunity to play with two very skilled players centering Galchenyuk and Drouin.
  • Jonathan Drouin
Drouin has been a major disappointment so far this season offensively and defensively. The move to wing will give him the opportunity to show off his offensive side.
  • Paul Byron
Byron had a rough night in his debut at centre versus the Islanders. He will get another chance to see if there is a fit for the role. His speed should be able to help  make up for mistakes.

Keys to Victory

  • Be creative
The Canadiens have not been creative on offence this season but the new lines can provide a spark.
  • Win for Julien
Montreal has a lot on the line tonight with the playoffs slipping away and their  coach’s return to Boston.
  • Play smart hockey
Simple mistakes have cost the Habs an extra point last game two games.

 What to Expect
Prediction: Canadiens 4  Bruins 2

This will be emotional game for Canadiens head coach, Claude Julien, who will be making his return to Boston. It should be another close checking game but all eyes will be on the Habs new forward lines.
