Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 2 BUF 3 OT
The Habs played a decent road game which was a good response after being thumped by the Devils. Montreal played a better defensive game which limited their offensive chances. The Habs decided to sit on the lead and gave up a late goal. Antti Niemi gave up a bad rebound, one of many in the game, on what really was a nothing play. Jeff Skinner was in the right spot to both tie the game and eventually score the game-winner.
Max Domi
Domi had his point streak come to an end. It was the positive part of his game. Domi must answer for a turnover and a penalty in overtime that cost the Habs the game.
Jeff Petry
Petry had a chance to clear the puck while on the penalty kill last night. He fanned on it and lost it which led to the game winning goal. He’ll want to make up for his mistake tonight.
Tomas Tatar
Tatar has three points in his past five games. He needs to ensure that he is always giving a consistent effort. It will be interesting to see if he has another level in his game.
Keys to Victory
Don’t sit back
The Habs had a one goal lead and decided to sit back allowing Buffalo, for the second time this season, tie the game late. Montreal’s defence has proven that it is not strong enough to keep a lead.
Execute on the power-play
The Habs scored a power-play goal in Buffalo but had trouble generating any scoring chances when they needed it.
Channel your emotions
Emotions will be high tonight at the Bell Centre. It is important that the Habs use the energy to their advantage.

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
Montreal has now lost three in a row and badly need answers to their defensive issues. The Bruins are one point ahead in the standings, with a game in hand. The Habs can’t afford to lose this game. Trying to address defensive struggles has changed how the offense has played limiting their offensive zone time. The Habs young vets have to lead by example and set the tone early. The Bruins are without some of their top players but are still a team with depth and a lot of fire power. The Canadiens have to shut them down early and stay out of the box to not give them any easy chances.
