Pre-game Notes and Quotes
Three-time Stanley Cup winner (all with the Blackhawks), Bryan Bickell, was reassigned to the AHL today. Captian Jonathan Toews had this to say about his longtime teammate: “It’s tough, [it] hurts your confidence when you’ve kind of had a lot of success [and] a lot of opportunities over a number of years, and all of a sudden it’s taken away from you. That’s a tough thing to overcome and battle through, but he’s a professional. He’s doing his best to do that.”
Max Pacioretty on the Canadiens’ heartbreaking loss to the Blues last night: “We have to win that game. Just sitting here thinking what to say, there’s nothing other than we have to win that game. Up 3-2 with six minutes left, we cannot lose that game,”
Brendan Gallagher: “We did some good things, but the end result was that we lost. We lost the game. We’ve got to be better. We’ve got to find ways to win. That’s what it comes down to. Nobody likes losing. Nobody wants to lose in here. That was the result tonight. We’ve got to fix it [on Sunday against Chicago]. It’s as simple as that,”
The Chicago Blackhawks are currently riding a 10 game winning streak (franchise record is 11 straight wins) including a win versus the Canadiens on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016.
