Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 3  BUF 4

Max Domi led the way for the Habs, scoring twice. Besides Domi and Artturi Lehkonen, too few other players were engaged for this game. Habs let Buffalo dictate the pace. With the score tied at three with less than two minutes to go, a weak penalty was called. The Canadiens failed to win the face-off once again, the Sabres scored on the power-play and Buffalo had the win. The Habs were clearly out-played and didn’t deserve to win this one.

Players to watch

  • Max Domi
Domi is off to a great start this season with 10 points in nine games. Domi will be getting his first taste of the biggest rivalry in hockey, which might bring out some of his Dad in him. It will be important for the emotional player to keep his emotions in check and play smart.
  • Charles Hudon
Hudon will replace Shaw in the line-up, bringing three points in six games. Oh a speed team, Hudon’s below-average skating has been noticeable. He needs to play smart and stay out of the penalty box.
  • Tomas Tatar, Joel Armia
Tatar and Armia, like Domi are both getting their first taste of the Habs-Bruins rivalry. It will be heavy going for the Canadiens in the TD Garden. Both players can use their strength and willingness to go to the dirty areas of the ice to make an impact for the Canadiens. Tatar should excel tonight while Gallagher will draw all the attention from the Bruins. Armia can make open ice for Byron and Kotkaniemi.

Keys to Victory

  • Use your speed
The Habs scored three goals last game when they used their speed. But unlike last game, Montreal will have to play better without the puck.
  • Outwork the B’s
The Canadiens can’t rely on speed alone, they will have to outwork the Bruins every shift.
  • Capitalize on chances
When the Habs get their chances they need to capitalize, it’s that simple. Chances against the Bruins will be few and far between so they have to make them count.

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The Habs should come out with energy. After being out played in every respect by Buffalo, Montreal needs to answer back and prove that the start of the season wasn’t just a fluke. The Bruins rely heavily on their first line, which is arguably the best-line in hockey. If Montreal can bottle up the Bruins first line in their own end and minimize their chances, it should be considered a win. Price will get the start and could move into sole possession of second on the all-time win list.
