GAME DAY | Canadiens – Ducks: Preview, Lines, Goalies, TV, Fantasy

Pre-game Notes and Quotes
Michel Therrien on the Canadiens’ most recent loss to the Sharks: “We had a tough time getting engaged in this game. They were better than we were. Nights like these are going to happen. We have a very young team right now. There are nights that are going to be tougher than others. This was one of those nights.”
After what many believed to be a disappointing trade deadline (only acquiring Mike Brown off waivers and Stefan Matteau via trade), followed by a loss to the Sharks, the Canadiens hope to rebound on their current California road trip against the Ducks. It will not be an easy task as both the Ducks and Kings are very good teams and the Canadiens are playing back to back games on Wednesday and Thursday.
Marc Bergevin on the newly acquired Stefan Matteau: “He’s a young player who hasn’t reached his full potential just yet. That’s one of the reasons why he was available. He’ll have the opportunity to get involved in Montreal and it will be up to him to seize his chance. He’s a guy with good size and good skating ability. He’s a player we wanted to select [in Chicago] when he was draft eligible. We think we can develop him in Montreal because it didn’t work out in New Jersey.”
While the Canadiens have a 5-14-2 record versus teams in the Western Conference this season, the Ducks have a 12-9-2 record against teams from the East.
So far this season, the Canadiens have a 3-7-0 record versus teams in the Pacific division, while the Ducks have a 6-5-0 record versus teams coming from the Atlantic.
The Canadiens have dropped in the standings for the goals against category, as they are currently in 20th in the league in goals against, with 175 in 63 games. The Ducks have allowed 144 goals in 61 games and find themselves in 2ed in the league.
The Canadiens have dropped in the standings for the goals scored category as they are currently in 11th place in the NHL, with 173 over their first 63 games. The Leafs are 26th in this category with 153 goals scored in their first 61 games.
