GAME DAY | Canadiens – Flyers: Preview, Prediction, Lines, Goalies, TV

Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game: MTL 3  VGK  6

As expected the Habs were not ready to play and got doubled up by the Golden Knights. The Habs defense struggled, Antti Niemi had a weak start allowing three goals on six shots, and the terrible start was too much for the Habs.

Players to watch

  • Alex Lyon
Lyon will be making his third start of the season after the Flyers lost both Brian Elliot and Michal Neuvirth. Philadelphia acquired Petr Mrazek from the Detroit Red Wings.
  • Phillip Danault
Danault will make his return to the line-up after suffering a concussion from taking a slap-shot to the head. Could his presence spark the team?
  • Nolan Patrick
Patrick is a big part of the youth movement in Philadelphia. Along with Patrick, Travis Konecny has been on fire with seven points in the past four games.

Keys to Victory

  • Start strong
Bad starts have been a big part of the Canadiens current five-game losing streak.
  • Bring energy
Phillip Danault will have bring bring the same energy and offensive spark of the player he replaced, Nikita Scherbak.
  • Don’t let up
If Montreal is fortunate to get the lead, they can’t play not to lose.

 What to Expect
Prediction: Canadiens 4  Flyers 2

The Flyers are on a streak but their march to the playoffs suffered a setback due to injuries to their goaltenders. The Canadiens need to take advantage of an inexperienced netminder.
