Pre-game Notes and Quotes
Coach John Hynes: “I thought our team stuck with it and competed real hard and we found a way to get a point, we would have liked to have two points, but we’ve got to find a way to be better [Saturday] and see if we can find a way to get two points.”
As to the despair of Canadiens fans everywhere, it was announced that Carey Price will be out for a month after re-aggravating his previous lower body injury. The injury has already cost him ten games so far this season.
Lee Stempniak, who currently sits second in team scoring with 18 points and lead the Devils with 2 points Friday night, is questionable for tonight’s tilt. He injured his right foot on Friday night.
The Devils have not won the second game of a back to back this season (they currently sit at 0-1-0), while the Canadiens have yet to lose in four attempts (they are 4-0-0).
The Devils outhit the Canadiens 34-13 in last night’s game, they also went 37/62 (59.6%) at the faceoff dot.
The Devils currently have five players on their team who have hit double digits in terms of points; The Canadiens have a total of 10.
The Canadiens are now riding a 4 game winning streak (while scoring 16 goals in the process), and have won 5 of their last six.
The Canadiens place fifth in the league in goals against, with 53 in their first 24 games. The Devils’ defensive game has been much better than most expected so far this season, as they have only allowed 55 goals against in their first 22 games.
The Canadiens have a commanding lead (5 goals) on first place in the NHL in the goals for category, with 86 over their first 24 games. The Devils have not been as fortunate, as they are in 24th place in the NHL with a total of 53 goals over their first 22 games this season.

As you can see below, Adam Henrique places second on the Devils in points earned on the road. Henrique is the usually regarded as the type of player who is more valuable to their team than in terms of fantasy production; so far this season he has proved this to be incorrect. For past two seasons Henrique has had 43 points exactly, with his goal production dropping to 16 last season (from 25 the season before). He has been very consistent in the hits (73 and 59), shots (137 and 127) and PPP (12 and 16) over the previous two season also. This season though, he seems to have broken out as he already has 11 goals, and 17 points through 22 games. He is also on pace for 198 shots (career high) over an 82 game span and 86 hits (which would also be a career high. Although his shooting percentage is expected to drop below his current 20.8%, it is important to remember that his career shooting percentage is still higher than most at 15.0%. With 8 points (5 of them goals) over his past nine games, Henrique is a must start unless your league is very shallow.
Top scorers for the Devils on the road this season are:
Mike Cammalleri and (with 13 points in 10 games).
Adam Henrique and Kyle Palmieri(with 10 points in 10 games)
Lee Stempniak (with 7 points in 10 games)
Top scorers for the Canadiens at home this season are:
Max Pacioretty, Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais (11 points in 12 games)
Tomas Plekanec and Tomas Fleischmann (both with 10 points in 12 games)
