Game Preview by Sam Gerber | |
Last game : MTL 5 BUF 6 OT
Defense was forgotten about in this one, the Canadiens and Sabres went back and forth all game long. Blown coverages, mental mistakes, bad bounces and just forgetting assignments were evident on both sides. The Habs managed to have a one goal lead after the second but early in the third, multiple breakdowns on a single face-off caused the tying goal. The Habs had the game on the stick of one of their best shooters in overtime but it wasn’t meant to be, the puck ended up on Rasmus Ristolainen’s stick who just powered the puck by Carey Price. What to Expect by Sam Gerber |
This game is going to be one to remember. With a season to forget last year the Canadiens moved on from their Captain, Max Pacioretty. This is his home-coming. Habs fans know that Pacioretty is an elite scorer and is very streaky. Once he starts, he’s hard to stop, the Habs have to be careful to keep him in check but focus on the game. The game is more important than a single player, and Montreal needs a win. With only four wins in their last 10 and currently on a two-game losing streak, the Habs need to flip the page and start getting some wins. |
