Pre-game Notes and Quotes
P. K. Subban on last night’s game versus the Oilers: “We’ve played a lot of hockey games this year where we’ve played well, we’ve played the system exactly the way that we wanted to, we created scoring chances (and) it just didn’t happen for us, when the bounces aren’t going our way. But we worked really hard today and we got rewarded for it.”
Assistant Captain, Tomas Plekanec, had this to say about last night’s win: “We know where we’re at, we’re going to keep fighting. Hopefully, this is the start of a solid winning streak we need to put on and keep it going. When you have a good first period, you feel good. You play with confidence instead of chasing the game and trying to get something going.”
Last night’s win against the Oilers was the first time the Canadiens have scored more than 3 goals in regulation since their outdoor game against the Bruins on New Year’s Day (they also failed to score more than 3 goals in a game through the whole month of December)
While the Canadiens have a 20-13-3 record versus teams in the Eastern Conference this season, the Hurricanes have a 12-13-4 record against teams from the East.
So far this season, the Canadiens have a 9-8-2 record versus teams in the Metropolitan division, while the Hurricanes have a 5-5-1 record versus teams coming from the Atlantic.
