Pre-game Notes and Quotes
Head Coach Michel Therrien: “Dealing with injuries is a challenge for everyone. It might be rare to see it happen to so many different players, but that’s no excuse. It’s a challenge to make the playoffs when your team is healthy, so when you missing pieces of your lineup, it is an even greater challenge,”
Brendan Gallagher on the Canadiens’ upcoming game against the Leafs: “I hope [they didn’t underestimate us]. We’ve been through some stuff here in the last few months but we still believe we’re a pretty good hockey team, we’re just going to keep competing night after night. It’s about getting results and getting back to the winning attitude that we’ve had for so long in here. It’s a good step in the right direction.”
With many pundits expecting the Leafs to be very active during the upcoming trade deadline, Morgan Rielly had this to say about the whole situation: “This time of year comes around every season, and players might be a bit nervous about what’s going to happen with their future, but you can’t spend too much time worrying about it because things are going to happen that aren’t within your control, all you can do is play your best, be a good teammate and roll with the punches.”
The much publicized progress of last year’s MVP, Carey Price, was updated again Friday as he took to the ice in full equipment for the first time since he was re-injured.
While the Canadiens have a 24-14-3 record versus teams in the Eastern Conference this season, the Leafs have a 9-16-9 record against teams from the East.
