Last game : MTL 4 PIT 3 SO
The Habs came back after being down 2-0 and won the game a shootout. Tomas Tatar had a big game for the Habs, and Antti Niemi was solid in the shootout after having a shaky start to his first game. Carey Price was out due to the flu. The flu is making the rounds of the team which will affect the lineup against the Red Wings. The comeback was something Habs fans failed to see much of last year. Max Domi rang one off the post in overtime, something he’ll be seeing in his sleep. Paul Byron scored the game-deciding goal to deliver the win. Montreal has beated the Penguins twice this season.
Xavier Ouellet
Ouellet has all the motivation in the world tonight, after being bought out by the Wings in the summer. It will be important for him to keep his emotions in check. If he is patient, he can capitalize on his opportunities.
Tomas Plekanec
Plekanec will be playing in his 1000th NHL game, being the 324th player in the NHL to do so. Plekanec and his turtleneck will be honored by the team and the fans. A goal and a win tonight would definitely be the cherry on top.
Tomas Tatar
Tatar was a big part of the Habs last win, netting his first two goals in a Habs sweater. Playing against a team that traded you away should give him extra motivation. Don’t be surprised if he plays a more aggressive game than usual. .
Keys to Victory
Match their speed
The Wings play a speed game with a number of young, quick forwards. For the Habs, it will be a big test.
Get to the net With the Wings allowing perimeter shots, the Habs will need to get bodies to the front of the net.
Play a complete game
In what could be a low scoring game, the Habs will be leaned on to play 60 minutes.
