Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 4  ARI 1  F   Gallagher celebrated his 500th NHL game the only way he knows how, digging for a lose puck and scoring from the blue paint. The goal set the tone for the game as the Habs grabbed the early lead and didn’t look back. Price was superb and only gave up one goal while Weber, Cousins and Drouin added a goal each to give the Habs the win.

Players to watch

  • Joel Armia
Armia has stepped up to fill the spot vacated by Andrew Shaw and more. With six goals in 10 games Armia is having a breakout season and is on pace to set career highs by a large margin.
  • Artturi Lehkonen
Lehkonen is a well liked by teammates as he contributes in all of the ways appreciated by hockey people and that may be missed by fans.
  • Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Kotkaniemi played the least of any center for the Habs last night and is having a slow start to the season. With patience he will find his game and regain his confidence.

Keys to Victory

  • Capitalize on chances
The Habs can’t afford to miss as their chances will be limited and one missed opportunity could cost them the game.
  • Make smart decisions
  • On the second night of a back to back the Habs will have to out smart their opponent. Quick, smart and correct decision making should keep the Habs out of trouble.
  • Skate hard
  • It won’t be easy but the Habs will have to continue to skate all night. Vegas has been waiting for them and will have a ton of energy that the Habs will have to match.

Pre-game quotes
Jeff Petry
  • “It’s mistakes that we’re making within here. The system’s in place and we’ve seen that when we do it well, it works. And when we step away from that or we’re not in the right position is when we’re getting scored on. So, it’s just a matter of making sure that everyone’s in the correct position and we’re all on the same page.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
In today’s NHL playoff bound teams are the ones who can win their second night of a back to back while their opponent has been off for multiple days. The one thing that benefits the Habs is they like to spread out their ice time with only one player playing more than 24 minutes the Habs should have enough left in the tank to compete all night long. The Habs will definitely need a strong start and will need to stay out of the box if they want keep their win streak alive.
