Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 4 CAR 3 F/OT For what felt like the hundredth time this season the Habs gave up a lead after a 3-0 start. But Jeff Petry scored in overtime for the game winner. The Phillip Danault line was dominant picking up seven points together. Charlie Lindgren battled hard to pickup his second win of the season.
Phillip Danault
Danault finally broke an 18 game goalless drought. He has now tied his career high in goals and is only eight points behind last year’s career season. Danault has struggled defensively and on the penalty-kill this season but is contributing offensively.
Paul Byron
Byron has five points in six games since returning from injury. He is playing the type of game needed to earn his $3.4 million contract.
Max Domi
After scoring just one goal in 23 games, Domi has four goals in his last four games. It’s great to see him find the back of the net but the Habs need him to be much more consistent.
Keys to Victory
Win special teams
The Islanders play a close checking game and don’t tend to give up anything easy. Special teams is always a big factor when playing them.
Get depth scoring
The Canadiens defencemen had done a great job contributing to the offence but need a little more from the bottom six against an Isles team thats heading towards the playoffs.
Finish chances Against a strong defensive team, the Canadiens will have to finish the scoring opportunities that they get.

Claude Julien
“They’re always well structured. [Barry Trotz] is one of the coaches that plays man to man zone coverage when was in Washington and now here, probably one of the better teams that play man on man. It’s going to be important for us to really move the puck quick and get some movement in the offensive zone in order to break them down. That’s not a team that has a ton of scoring. They score enough to win games. They play well defensively.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The Islanders have lost three in a row but still hang on to one of the wild card spots by a narrow three points. This is a game the Islanders should win if they want to reach the playoffs. The Habs are nine points back of the Islanders and won’t be making the playoffs but beating teams fighting for that final playoff spot always gives players some extra motivation to win.
