Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 0  TBL 4  F   The Habs were no match for the Lightning as Tampa got an early lead and didn’t look back. Frustration reached an all time high as both Ben Chariot and Shea Weber fought. Habs forwards were pushed around all game and finally they decided to step in.

Players to watch

  • Brendan Gallagher
Gallagher missed last game with the flu. The Habs don’t seem to play the same without him. He may not be 100 percent tonight but will be a welcome sight.
  • Charlie Lindgren
The Habs will finally give Price some rest tonight. Lindgren has done everything he has been asked to do. He will undoubtedly battle in the game tonight.
  • Shea Weber
Claude Julien was not surprised but happy to see Weber stand up for his teammates last game. Julien said that it is only one part of Shea being a great captain and respected around the league.

Keys to Victory

  • Use speed
The Habs didn’t seem to have their legs last game. They’ll need to have a much better effort tonight to get back in the win column.
  • Finish chances
The Canadiens will have to create a lot more chances than they did against Tampa and finish them when they do.
  • Prevent early goals
The Habs gave up an early goal to the Bolts and were never in the game. It shows how fragile this team is at the moment and how changes are needed.

Pre-game quotes
Brendan Gallagher

  • “Henri Richard did so much for that jersey, I think it’s time to do something for him and honor his legacy, and just play the way that he would have done. … Hopefully, we can respond well tonight and honor him the way that he deserves to be honored.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The Florida Panthers are realistically the only team able to catch the Leafs for the third and final Atlantic division playoff spot. They have two games on hand and winning both would put them only one point shy of the Leafs. A win tonight for the Habs almost secures post season for the Leafs.
