GAME DAY | Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers: Preview, TV,  Start Time, Statistical Match-up, Projected Lines, Starting Goalies, Keys to Victory, Habs Tickets

Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 4  NJD 6  F   The Habs defensive woes continued as they gave up numerous odd man rushes leaving Carey Price hung out to dry. A late penalty by Joel Armia hurt the Habs comeback chances but failing to play with the lead all game was hard to watch.

Players to watch

  • Max Domi
The Habs need to be a lot more physical and Domi is definitely one who can bring it. With only nine hits this season Domi would benefit from playing with a bit more of an edge.
  • Jesperi Kotkaniemi
A two-point game was great to see from KK but his physical play has elevated over the last few games, something much needed by the Habs centers. He still has to pick the right time to make a hit so that he stays in position.
  • Shea Weber
Weber has been relied on all season but badly needs some help. Bergevin napped all summer but now it’s time to act so support his core players.

Keys to Victory

  • Play better defensively
The Habs have been activating their defense since game one of the season but it’s being exploited of late, the players have to be aware and communicate with each other so they don’t give up any odd man rushes.
  • Fight to the end
The Habs can’t give up and need to fight until the end of the whistle, that means fighting for every loose puck and beating your guy, never giving an inch.
  • Get a strong start
Afternoon games are always weird starts and with the rough go lately for the Habs they need a quick start where they can play with a lead for a change.

Pre-game quotes
Max Domi
  • “We’re really not focused on a quick fix or the slump or whatever you want to call it. We have to win our next hockey game and that’s all we’re really focused on right now. It’s all you can do, put your energy into that and do everything you possibly can. We’re going to stick together here, we’re going to find a way to do it. We all believe in each other.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The Flyers last regulation loss was more than 10 days ago while the Habs last regulation win was 15 days ago. They are two teams going different ways but the Habs can beat any team in the league they just have to work together and not hurt themselves. Habs fans should take a close eye on Shayne Gostisbehere. He hasn’t had the strongest season but the Habs have had rumours swirling around the player for the last few seasons and a change of scenery for Gostisbehere could be the solution for a Habs defense that has given up 20 goals in three games..
