Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 1  FLA 4    The Canadiens dropped a big opportunity to take over the game with a two-man advantage. Throughout the game, the Habs settled for perimeter shots and failed to generate offense. Lindgren had another strong start in the backup role.

Players to watch

  • Paul Byron
Weber will be playing in his 900th career game against his former club. It will be memorable night but expect Weber to be all business.
  • Jake Evans
Shaw made an immediate impact scoring in the opening minute, but showed some rust after making a very costly turnover against Toronto. He will want to be better against Nashville.
  • Phillip Danault
The 4th line has been a weak link all season long. Weise will be expected to play passionately after returning to a team he loves. Thompson will bring size, faceoff prowess and help for the penalty-kill.

Keys to Victory

  • Win special teams
The Habs special teams have failed them over and over again recently.
  • Go to the net
The Habs offense has been awful of late. They must move from the perimeter to create traffic and opportunities to redirect the puck.
  • Focus on offence
After scoring six goals in one game the Habs have only scored one total in each of the next two games which obviously isn’t enough.

Pre-game quotes
Shea Weber
  • “Obviously we haven’t been consistent enough and that’s why we’re not further up the standings. But there’s a lot of room to grow and build and become that team we want to build, especially now, instead of waiting to get things started next year.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The Predators have been a disappointment all season and sit one point shy of the final wild card spot. The Preds missing the playoffs would be a surprise and could lead to many off-season changes. The Habs recent struggles could see them finish the season with fifth worst record in the league. Playing for jobs has to be the focus now.
