Game Preview by Sam Gerber
Last game : MTL 2 EDM 4 F Nate Thompson was in all alone, beat the goalie with a wide open net but the puck found the post. That moment changed the rest of the game as the Oilers came back to win. That’s the year it’s been for the Habs as they currently have a better chance at a top three pick then they do of making the playoffs with the trade deadline looming.
Phillip Danault
Danault may have a career season in points but won’t be part of the Selke Trophy discussion this year as his defensive play has fallen off. He has also lost his touch at the faceoff circle while shorthanded.
Carey Price
Price will get the start again against the Senators as expected. But with another four game week coming up, the coaching staff should be scheduling another start for Charlie Lindgren.
Tomas Tatar
Tatar has been the Habs best forward and he fits well in their system, it wouldn’t shock me if the Habs try to move him at the deadline but teams may be weary after his move to Vegas was a dud.
Keys to Victory
Compete hard
The Habs compete level has been evident but hasn’t been there for a full game and is why their losing a lot of games by one goal.
Build confidence
The team’s confidence has been shaken, this losing streak has taken its toll on the team and they seem to fold late in the period.
Play smart The Habs mistakes have cost them and quite a few of them have been careless, playing a lot smarter will do wonders for the team.

Claude Julien
“You can tweak certain things, which we’re trying to do. You’re trying to put some lines together and some of them, when you don’t get the last change, you’ve got to be careful with who they’re out against and that stuff, but at one point there’s only so many things you can do as a coach. You have what you have. We’ve got some young players, we’ve got some guys that would be in Laval (American Hockey League) if we were healthy, and that’s reality, and that’s life. You have to deal with that and adjust.”

What to Expect by Sam Gerber
The streak has to end for one team. The Habs have lost eight straight games while the Senators have lost six. The Habs chances at the playoffs are hanging on by a thread and I believe it’s in their best effort to focus on the draft that’s going to be in Montreal. It would be nice to see the Habs make an effort and try to make playoffs but two separate eight-game losing streaks is difficult to overcome.
