Post-game Chatter |
- “We were dictating the game, a few breakdowns at times but they were pressing a lot in the third. There’s a lot of positives about winning a hockey game here.”
- “I really liked the way we kept our composure between periods. We were the team that was dictating the game and skating and creating chances and at times I thought we could have had a few goals in the second period but I really liked the way that we played in the second period.”
- On Bournival leaving the game after blocking a shot: “It’s a bruise. That’s the good news. You earn respect from your teammates when you sacrifice yourself for the team like that. He’s doing a lot of good things out there.”
- “We got a game plan. We got four guys that we thought that they were capable to play against their top players.”
- “They have been told that [Subban] was there to defend a hit on Andrei Markov. Markov has been really good for PK, but one thing for sure, you don’t want it to be a habit.”
Goaltender Peter Budaj
- “I think we know what to expect from them. They have great offensive power and a lot of skill up front. With [Ovechkin] playing the way he is playing, we were able to manage, and I think they only had one shot at the end, which was not a huge scoring chance. We got a big two points for us tonight.”
Forward Travis Moen
- “We’re starting to develop good chemistry as a line. We spent a lot of time in the offensive zone and generated chances. It seems like coach has confidence in us defensively too, so that’s great.”
Capitals Coach Adam Oates
- “Some mistakes from guys you don’t expect, some mistakes from youth, and you know what, you’ve got to be good enough to survive them.”
