 Post-game Chatter

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien:

  • “We capitalized on our chances. We could see in the first period, it was a really tight game, not much room again.  When we start our first goal, we start to play with confidence. It’s a good confidence building what we got tonight.”
  • “That line (Pacioretty, Gallagher, Desharnais) was really good.  They create chances and they were managing the puck really well. They were attacking at the right time.  They did a good job tonight.”
  • The message is not different. A lot of good things happened to us tonight. We want to make sure again that we play the right way.  That was a message before the game.”
  • “We don’t want to cheat defensively to try to create offense.  I thought the guys did a good job.  They were focusing, they were going hard for the net and we capitalized on our chances.  I really appreciate the team effort tonight.”
  • “[The fourth line] did a good job tonight for us. They did a lot of good things and they were spending offensive zone time and this is what you ask from that line and they create penalties with their hard work and being strong on puck.  For me it’s detail but the important detail of the game.”
  • “The [players] were doing a lot of good things. I was not panicking.  And as a coach I know what the good things they were doing.  We have to make sure we are still focusing on the good things, trying to make some adjustments, some guidelines offensively, and we worked on it yesterday. From my standpoint, I was not panicking because I knew there was a lot of good things that we were doing.”
  • “That was a good foundation. You know eventually if you get chances, the puck will start to get in.  We just tell the guys make sure you play the right way because when you are facing a tough time to score goals, you don’t want to have a tendency to cheat.”
  • “If you start cheating, you’re going to dig your hole.  It’s important that we are still working really hard and focusing on our foundation.  And this is what those guys did tonight again.  We got chances and we were capable of capitalizing on them.”
