Post-game Chatter |
- “[Douglas Murray] is solid. This is what we like about him. He’s good about killing penalties. He’s a really tough guy to play against, in corners, in front of the net, and blocking shots. He’s doing a great job. He’s a presence. We can tell when he’s in the lineup. We can feel his presence. He’s a good teammate.”
- “Everytime we play the Leafs it’s always been physical. We got Douglas Murray tonight, (who) did a fantastic job. George Parros, as far as I’m concerned, we felt his presence. Physically I thought we were a good team tonight. Definitely these guys made an impact on our team.”
- “[Alex Galchenyuk] has got to learn to play the game. It’s normal for 19 years old. If he has to take a penalty, it better be a good one especially when you’re up. When you’re in the offensive zone, I thought it was a bad penalty. The momentum switched. Even if we killed the penalty we could tell that momentum switched. He’s going to learn from that I’m sure. He’s a good kid. We believe in him. I’m sure he’s going to bounce back next game.”
- “We’re doing a lot of good things. They scored the first goal, it was a nice goal. We killed a penalty at the end, our transition was not good. But what we told the players between the second and third (periods): We’re playing a great hockey game here. Let’s make sure we keep doing the right things and stick to the game plan and we’ll be fine.”
- “I thought in the third period that we played solid. We were spending offensive zone time. We were managing the puck well and we were solid defensively. And when there was a litte bit of breakdown, Carey (Price) was there to make those saves.
- “I felt our team was ready to play. they feel the excitement. It’s a rivalry. And it’s fun to be part of a rivalry. So I thought our players were ready to play. We showed it right from the start.”
Forward Max Pacioretty:
- “With a rivalry like this and knowing what happened here last time, we wanted to show them right away that this is a different team than last time. The strong start helped us a lot.”
- “I thought shoot because sometimes you get a second crack at it. In that case I got four cracks at it.”
Forward Travis Moen
- “It’s always a thrill to play against the best players on the other team. I really enjoy being put in these situations. We try to skate well, apply good pressure on the forecheck and spend as much time as possible in the other team’s zone close to their net.”
Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier
- “If you look at our games we’ve been giving up a lot of shots, and at a certain point you can’t have luck on your side all season. There will be highs and lows, and right now we need to find the little spark we had at the beginning of the season and be excited to come play hockey and find a way to score.”
