 Post-game Chatter

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien:

  • “[The Bruins] took an advantage that we played last night and they took advantage that we played six games in nine days.  They came out really strong. You have to give the Bruins a lot of credit for that. But we adjusted really well.”
  • “I think we played with desperation. We knew the importance of tonight’s game. And a lot of credit goes to my players. I think they left it on the ice and they emptied the tank tonight. A lot of credit goes to them.”
  • “We knew it was going to be a physical game and we were ready for that.”
  • We can play different games. Tonight we put George Parros in the lineup. He’s a presence as we all know.  I liked his impact tonight; Douglas Murray the same thing. He battled to get the puck out of our own end on that second goal that (Max) Pacioretty scored.  Those are details but we felt their presence tonight.”
  • “Like a lot of guys, Josh (Gorges) he is really solid defensively. He keeps his game really simple. He plays to his limit.  And he’s got a lot of courage to be in the shooting lanes and blocking shots.  He’s a good leader for us.  You know what you’re going to get from Josh Gorges everynight.”
  • “We get satisfaction about winning hockey games for sure.  But I got more satisfaction about our players buying into the way we want to play.  We want to play a tight checking game and solid defensively and this is what our team is buying into right now.”
  • “Every game means something.  It’s two points. We all understand that when we play the Bruins, it’s a rivalry. It’s fun to be part of that.”

 Forward Max Pacioretty:

  • “I heard their coach tell the ref(eree) that he understood that there was no intention there and he understood that it was just a two minute (penalty.)  I feel terrible.  I’ve been in that situation before. As you could tell in my game right after it definitely rattled me a lot.  I wish him nothing but the best.”
  • “There’s a lot of character in this room and we all know we have a lot more to give. Certain guys are stepping up, like Carey (Price) tonight. He won the game for us tonight, and I think it goes in the back of our minds that we owe him a better outing next time.”

Bruins coach Claude Julien

  • “I think the second period was atrocious and even embarrassing. If you look at the way we played in the first and third, the way we played in the second is not acceptable, not for our team. It cost us the game.”
