Game Recap: Habs end their four-game losing streak with a win over the New York Islanders with help from an eight-point game from Lars Eller, Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk.
“We played [Tavares] really well 5-on-5 and he’s a demanding guy to play against. He’s a world-class player. I thought Plekanec’s line did a great job to make sure we kept him off the scoresheet first but I don’t believe he got a lot of scoring chances. We’re talking about Plekanec’s line and Gorges, Diaz doing a fantastic job. Those five guys, it was their mission tonight and they did a good job.”
“[The Eller line] competes. That’s the No. 1 reason that they have success. Together they compete. The chemistry is there obviously. To get success in this league you gotta compete. And when you compete you give yourself a chance to get results.”
Regarding Moen leaving the game: “He got sick (flu.) I called his name but he wasn’t on the bench. So what the hell is going on? Nobody told me. I didn’t know.”
“We try everything to get [Desharnais’] game back. Regarding David, it’s tough right now.”
“One thing for sure, we are seeing that the kid line (Eller, Gallagher, Galchenyuk) is having success because they compete. And for me, this is leadership, what they are doing.”
